Thanks to this week’s rare burst of sunshine, we’ve got summer on the brain. If you, like us, can’t think of anything better than relaxing with a cocktail in an Indian Summer Garden decked with palm trees, flower garlands and relaxing floating candles, get yourself down to Carom, Soho, where a pop-up paradise awaits.
From the 24th May until the 31st August, the sun-drenched atrium of the pan-Indian restaurant and cocktail bar at 100 Wardour Street will be transformed into a luxurious summer hideaway. The menu boasts summer specials including an Indian burger served with a selection of homemade chutneys and spiced fries, and exotic cocktails like lychee and rose petal martinis. Nightly DJ sets will kick off at 9pm.
And if tennis is your thing, Carom is the only place to be outside of SW19 during this year’s Wimbledon tournament (25th June until the 8th July). Diners will be able to keep an eye on Centre Court (via big screens) whilst nibbling strawberries dipped in chilli chocolate and cream and sipping a Maharaja Fizz – a thirst-quenching blend of saffron syrup, rosewater and prosecco.
For those who want to learn more about Indian cuisine and master the art of cooking the perfect curry, Carom also hosts monthly curry clubs complete with cooking demonstrations from chef Balaji Balachander and a three-course meal, cocktail and free goody bag for each participant. The next class will be on the 13th June and costs £35 per person. More details can be found here.
