The Chelsea Flower Show for foodies

To celebrate, many of London’s culinary hot spots are offering bloom-themed menus for green-fingered visitors – so, if the weather is a washout, you know where to head for cover…

‘Lunch Flower’ at The Dorchester
For one week only, Alain Ducasse will serve up a three-course menu with a floral theme to honour this year’s Flower Show. Created by Head Chef Jocelyn Herland, the menu boasts Hereford snails, a vegetable tart in bloom with a fresh herb condiment and seared arctic char with a garden of fresh seasonal vegetables. Best of all is the ‘Sweet Daisy’ dessert, which perfectly resembles a blossoming potted flower. Created by Head Pastry Chef Angelo Ecrolano, the layered pudding includes white chocolate and jasmine tea cream petals paired with a mango and jasmine compote centre, all piled on a ‘soil’ of decadent chocolate crumble. The Lunch Flower Menu is available from the 22nd to 25th May, costs £55 per person, and includes two glasses of wine.

Botanical Afternoon Tea at Harvey Nichols
Treat yourself to a blooming good (ahem) afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols this month and you’ll find a menu that includes orange blossom and chocolate chip scones, courgette flower cupcakes and even a chocolate and geranium gateau. Traditional bite-size sandwiches are also garden inspired, with ingredients including lemon verbena and chicken and hibiscus. Floral cocktails at The Langham
Not hungry enough for lunch or afternoon tea? Make a date at The Langham’s Artesian bar, where expert mixologists will serve up impressive ‘Best in Show’ Venus Flytrap cocktails to truly green-fingered guests. Designed by award-winning Head Bartender Alex Kratena, the sherry-based cocktail has floral notes and hints of nuttiness, complemented by orange flower water and delicate umeshi with accents of green plum and roses. ‘Best in Show’ will be on the menu at The Artesian from 21st May until the 3rd June and is priced at £14.
