London has always been a fantastic city for those with varied music tastes – we are surrounded by some of the world’s finest small gig venues, and each weekend brings numerous events, festivals and DJ sets to suit all tastes. This month, London’s Latin Music Festival La Linea returns for its 12th year of rumba and soul in the capital.
Festival highlights include a rare show from Juan De Marcos and the mighty Afro Cuban All Stars (25th April at the Barbican), a Brazilian triple bill headlined by Ceu, Curumin and Lucas Santtana (19th April at KOKO), and a special 25th anniversary show from homegrown Latin legend Roberto Pla (21st April at Islington Town Hall). Events will also be taking place at Rich Mix and Village Underground in Shoreditch, the HMV Forum in Kentish Town and Bolivar Hall in central London until the 27th April.
For those keen to learn more about Latin music in London, a virtual slide show telling the story of the capital’s love affair with the genre can be viewed online as part of the festival.
