Fancy some open-air cinema this weekend? Weather permitting, Pop Up Screens will be launching their inaugural summer event in west London – and it’s going to be a goodie.
Postponed last weekend due to the downpour, it’ll be taking place in Hammersmith on Friday, so why not swap the sticky carpets and overpriced popcorn of your local multi-screen and head down to Ravenscourt Park for an evening of al fresco entertainment?
Pop Up Screens’ summer kicks off with ‘Office Space’ on the 13th, an off-beat comedy about company workers who hate their jobs, starring Ron Livingstone and Jennifer Aniston. On Saturday night it’s the turn of ‘The Goonies’, the classic 80s flick following a group of misfit kids on a search for underground treasure, while Sunday’s movie continues the retro vibe with 1986 fantasy film ‘Labyrinth’.
There are also bars and plenty of food stalls to keep you entertained while you wait for the sun to go down, but remember Pop Up Screens don’t provide seats, so bring your own. Oh, and a brolly and some blankets might be a good idea, too…
Tickets are £8 each and if you’re serious about your fair-weather movies then take advantage of Pop Up Screens’ Season Ticket. For £50 you can see every film showing across London during the summer months, including ‘Donnie Darko’, ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ and ‘Anchorman’.
