As its name suggests, The Doodle Bar is not your average south London boozer. As well as serving drinks from early ‘til late, The Doodle Bar offers patrons to the chance to have a good scribble – literally – on a giant canvas and blackboard which adorn the interior walls. Once you (and perhaps your ‘doodle date’) have sketched up an appetite, there’s food on the menu from gourmet food truck Street Kitchen and occasional street food vendors including the likes of Pocket Bakery.
The bar is housed in an old industrial building and the creative vibe extends through to the adjoining event space, TESTBED1, which hosts live performances and work by local artists. Life drawing classes are also held on the second Tuesday of every month, and every session has a different theme (think ‘burlesque’ and you’ve got the right idea).
And if the only thing that can shake the post-Olympic blues is more sporting events, you’ll be pleased to hear that The Doodle Bar will be showing the Paralympics on their giant screen later this month, too.
